6160-08 City & Guilds (C&G) Award In Working as a Member of a Rescue and Recovery Team in Confined Spaces. This course is for anyone who works as part of a rescue and recovery team in confined spaces. It includes preparing to carry out emergency activities, entering and exiting confined spaces safely, using emergency equipment, casualty recovery and handling devices in accordance with manufacturers’ specifications, rescuing and recovering casualties, following procedures and working safely. The aim of this unit is to reflect the national occupational standard for working as a rescue and recovery team member in confined spaces. PGL Midlands are pleased to offer this course in Birmingham using a state-of-the-art mobile unit giving the one of the best learning experiences the industry has to offer. This unit covers both water and non-water industry areas.


WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

Any person who requires accredited training for Rescue as a Team Member across a range of Confined Space environments.


WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?

  • Oversee safety checks of the entry and rescue teams prior to commencing work
  • Enter and exit confined spaces safely as part of a rescue and recovery team
  • Use equipment and tools safely
  • Follow procedures and work safely as a member of a rescue and recovery team
  • Understand the principles of working as part of a rescue and recovery team
  • Understand standard protocols for working in rescue and recovery teams

Water: this may include working with potable water, sewage treatment processes, drain and sewer cleaning operations, or where the operative is working in or near water, or where a confined space is subject to surface water flooding.

Non-water: this may include pharmaceutical, petrochemical, asbestos removal, vehicle manufacture and servicing, electrical and mechanical engineering and some elements of work operations in mines, quarries and tunnelling. This unit is for anyone who directs the activities of a team for rescue or recovery in confined spaces. This may include rescue team leader, coordinator, entry controller/top person or supervisor in relation to
rescue and recovery of casualties, planning and preparing for emergency operations, mobilising rescue teams, directing and monitoring rescue activities, reporting and securing sites after incidents or emergencies.


COURSE DETAILS

DURATION: 3 day course.

DELIVERY METHODS: Open Course in Birmingham | On Site can be arranged using the fully approved mobile unit. Ask our friendly team for more details.

ASSESSMENT: Candidates will be assessed throughout the course.

CERTIFICATION: 6160-08 City & Guilds (C&G) Award In Working as a Member of a Rescue and Recovery Team in Confined Spaces certificate.

  • Endorsement by a sector or regulatory body: This unit is endorsed by Energy and Utility Skills
  • GLH: 24hrs
  • Max delegates: 10 people
  • Delivered in partnership with Sunbelt Rentals providing state of the art equipment
  • Delegates attending this course must be clean shaven – This is for RPE purposes
  • Delegates attending this course must have an in-date City & Guilds High Risk qualification (6150-03 or 6160-03)

Short Course Grant: This course is eligible for the following short course grant via CITB:-

  • Grant rate/tier: £60 (Tier 1) | Grant code: GET1945

Skills & Training Fund: Are you a CITB-Registered employer, up to date with your Levy return and employ between 1-250 direct staff or CIS (No PAYE). If you answered yes, this training MAY be offset with funding as part of an application for between £2,500 up to £25,000 for training your workforce.
