Our Manual Handling Train The Trainer course focuses on training individuals in the proper techniques for safely moving and handling objects. This includes low-risk roles like working in an office, to higher-risk roles such as Construction, Engineering, & Logistics. Manual handling training doesn’t just point out the bad, it helps to rectify it by showing best practices. One of the biggest causes of Lost Time Incident Frequency Rates in the workplace is poor manual handling; this course will help to reduce the likelihood of poor posture, poor technique, and poor planning.


WHO SHOULD ATTEND

Any person who wishes to train their internal employees or subcontractors in Manual Handling.


WHAT WILL YOU LEARN

This course is split into 4 CORE MODULES over a two-day period:

Module 1: Candidates will receive the 4-hour course as it should be delivered at site level.

Module 2: Candidates will then receive further in-depth knowledge and understanding across the Safe System of Work when Manual Handling to underpin wider familiarity and enhance delivery.

Module 3: Candidates will be taught the basic principles of how to deliver and assess effective teaching sessions.

Module 4: Candidates will be required to deliver a 30-minute micro-teaching session on day 2 that meets the standard of quality, knowledge, and skill set required to deliver these courses in the future.

  • Relevant regulations/legislation/guidance
  • Duties of employees and employers
  • Introduction to manual handling
  • Principles of good movement
  • Types and causes of injury caused by poor manual handling
  • Anatomy of the body, including upper and lower limbs and the spine
  • Identifying the Task, Individual, Load, Environment (T.I.L.E) as part of a suitable and sufficient Risk Assessment
  • Mechanical aids and their usage
  • Practical application of lifting, pushing, pulling and carrying a range of objects
  • Practical session where each candidate will be instructed and assessed on their ability and competence in Manual Handling
  • Learning theories and preferences
  • Principles of Teaching
  • How to plan and deliver a course
  • Principles of Assessment
  • Quality assurance

COURSE DETAILS

DURATION: 2 Days

Note: If you have attended one of PGL’s other Train The Trainer Courses, your course will be reduced to approximately 1 ½ Days due to already completing Module 3 (You will not need to resit this module but will need to complete Module 4 per course).

DELIVERY METHODS: Open Course.

NUMBER OF LEARNERS: 8 learners per day.

ASSESSMENT: Learners are assessed through a mix of theory and practical training.

CERTIFICATION: Upon successfully completing this course, you will receive a PGL Approved qualification.

RESOURCES: All candidates upon completion of the course will receive via SharePoint a course presentation, a lesson plan, assessments (theory and practical), and any handouts relevant to the topic.


OTHER

Remember that once you have completed your TTT courses with PGL Midlands, you have the option to sign up your business to our quality and certificate service to support your business’s training matrix, certification, and quality assurance.
