How to Choose The Best Streetworks Training Provider?
Finding the right training provider for streetworks can seem like an impossible task, but it doesn’t have to be. When searching for a high-quality streetworks training provider, take the time to conduct thorough research. Making an informed decision will help you maximise both your training budget and overall experience. Consider the key factors outlined below and assess whether they meet your specific training needs.
Experience and expertise of the centre and the training provider
Primarily, when selecting a training provider, ensure they are experienced, reputable, and have a training centre that meets the requirements for streetworks training. PGL Midlands boasts years of experience delivering training across the West Midlands region and throughout the country. Our streetworks technical centre, conveniently located in Bordesley Green near Birmingham City Centre, is a state-of-the-art facility. It includes a dedicated streetworks practical area, fully equipped training rooms, and a bespoke scaffolding unit designed specifically for practical training.
Choosing the right location for you
As highlighted previously, the right location and training centre is an important factor when deciding which training provider to select. Once you have confirmed that the training provider you have chosen for your streetworks training is reputable, finding the most accessible and convenient location becomes the next crucial step. The accessibility of the training centre reduces the stresses of commuting and travelling to the training centre for your staff. This includes, but is not limited to, a convenient location with adequate parking and reliable transport links, all of which helps in promoting a positive training experience for your staff.
Is the curriculum offered aligned with what you need
Ensure the course content that your staff are attending matches their specific job role or certification needs. A well-structured curriculum should cover both the theoretical and practical aspects of streetworks.
Additionally, make sure the curriculum includes the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 (NRSWA), which mandates by law that a qualified operative must be on-site at all times while streetworks are in progress.Individuals can become streetworks operatives by attending and passing the full 5-day Streetworks Operatives course. They can then progress to the Streetworks Supervisor course if they wish to advance to supervising streetworks operatives.
Included within the Streetworks Operative and Supervisors course modules are Signing, Lighting and Guarding and How to Locate Underground Apparatus. However, these module courses can also be taken independently as separate 1-day courses.
Clear communication from the provider
A clear sign of a reputable and reliable provider is their commitment to clear and transparent communication. Providers should be able to clarify all details about the courses and the requirements your staff will be needing before attending the course. Consistent and clear updates when booking the course and training process ensure you remain well-informed at every stage.
Only work with accredited training providers
Ensure you are working with accredited and reputable training providers. Accreditations help verify the provider’s credentials before booking the course. PGL Midlands streetworks courses are accredited by CABWI – Awarding Body for the Water & Utilities Industries.
Training delivery
Our Streetworks courses are delivered in a mixture of theoretical and practical assessments for operatives and supervisors with continuous oral and assessment, supplemented with video and classroom-based tutorials.
A NRSWA training group may contain a mix of both Operatives and Supervisors. Sessions will be varied within the overall framework to allow the most effective development of the candidate.
Training provider delivery method and quality
As a reputable training provider, PGL Midlands is dedicated to delivering high-quality training sessions. We achieve this through our extensive network of trainers, who are experienced streetworks specialists within the civils and utilities industry. Our training delivery is designed to be interactive and engaging, fostering a positive learning experience for our learners. To continuously improve our services, we actively encourage regular reviews and testimonials from our clients.
The training provider’s ability to answer your questions
Don’t hesitate to ask any questions to assess the provider’s knowledge. A good provider will always be willing to address any of your concerns before, during, and after training. Reasonably quick and detailed responses will reflect the training provider’s knowledge within a given course subject and their commitment to customer satisfaction.
