You will use the NVQ to gather and  provide evidence of your competency in your role as a construction site manager. This qualification covers areas including building and civil engineering, conservation, demolition, highways and maintenance and residential development. WHO SHOULD ATTEND

Any Construction Manager, or working towards this role and wishes to gain their BLACK CSCS card upon completion, and/or MCIOB approval. The card is used to show that you are working as a Site Manager at the industry required level. WHAT DOES THE NVQ CONSIST OF

Minimum Total Qualification Time: 1720
Minimum Guided Learning Hours: 447
Minimum Credit value: 172

The NVQ Level 6 Construction Management qualification will confirm the learner’s occupational competence as a Construction Site Manager. Upon completion, the qualification will provide the knowledge and confirmation to employers, industry managers and card schemes that the learner has the necessary skills and knowledge needed to carry out the role of a Construction Site Manager.


ASSESSMENT

The NVQ level 6 construction qualification is assessed by completing a portfolio of evidence which details what learners have completed at work through a variety of evidence styles such as observation, professional discussion, witness testimony and supporting documentary evidence. The assessor can work alongside the learner to confirm that they have met the requirements of the qualification and that they are therefore competent in their role.

Competence will be displayed through the assessor observing the learner, who will demonstrate that they can work to the industry standard and comply with current legislation and company procedures. The assessment process will also ensure that the learner can complete tasks as directed and that they can interpret instructions correctly. Learners will demonstrate that they can select the appropriate resources for the task and manage a construction site to the nationally recognised standard.  They will also demonstrate that they can complete tasks within the given timescales and specifications.

  • Identifying and enabling learning opportunities for given work teams
  • Establishing, controlling and monitoring environmental factors and sustainability
  • Ensuring that work activities and resources meet project work requirements
  • Organising, controlling and monitoring supplies of materials
  • Establishing project dimensional control criteria
  • Evaluating feedback information and recommending improvements
  • Contributing to the identification of work teams
  • Planning the preparation of the site for the project / operation
  • Identifying, allocating and planning the deployment and use of plant, equipment or machinery
  • Establishing and monitoring communication systems and organisational procedures
  • Controlling project quantities and costs

COURSE DETAILS

DURATION: NVQs can be completed in as little as 4 weeks. Often between 4-12 weeks. However, this is depending on the motivation of the learner to complete the NVQ.

DELIVERY METHODS: On Site | Online

CERTIFICATION: Successful learners will receive a NOCN NVQ Level 6 Diploma in Construction Management

OTHER INFO: The Build & Civil’s sector involves designing and executing structural works that serve the general public, including aqueducts, dams, bridges, canals, highways, power plants, sewerage systems, and also airports, railways and more. Managing construction sites within this sector is a layered and critical obligation, with a duty of care and responsibility for the teams in operation and the project’s success

The Level 6 NVQ Diploma in Construction Site Management – Building and Civil Engineering qualification is designed to occur in a real workplace environment. This means delegates must be employed to take this qualification. Before being enrolled you will be asked to complete a Skills Scan to assess your current competence against the Occupation Standards (OS).

A CITB grant is available for companies registered with the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB). Claim up to £1,500 for a level 6 NVQ Achievement as long as you are a CITB Levy Payer and are not behind on your payments.
