What is the SMSTS course?
The Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) is a 5-day CITB-accredited course for site managers and supervisors. It teaches how to manage health and safety legally and effectively on construction sites.
Does the SMSTS course qualify me for a black CSCS card?
No. However, when completing your chosen NVQ, you will be able to use this qualification as recognised prior learning towards achieving a Black or Gold CSCS card. This course is the most recognised H&S course relevant to construction and those occupying managerial roles.
Can I take this course online?
Yes! We offer an online, tutor-led version of the SMSTS course. It’s live, interactive, and delivers the same recognised certification as our classroom version.
Is there an exam?
Yes. Delegates must complete a multiple-choice exam and be assessed on group exercises. Successful completion is required to gain the certificate.
What happens when my certificate expires?
The SMSTS certificate is valid for 5 years. To renew, you must complete the 2-day SMSTS Refresher before your certificate expires.
