Asbestos Awareness Training

This UKATA-approved course provides essential knowledge for tradespeople, maintenance workers, and contractors to work safely, legally, and confidently around asbestos-containing materials (ACMs).
Delivered by UKATA-approved tutors, this course meets legal requirements under the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 and is a key requirement for many employers and construction sites across the UK.

What Is Asbestos Awareness Training?

Asbestos Awareness training is a legal requirement for anyone who may disturb asbestos during their work. While this course does not permit you to work with asbestos directly, it ensures you can recognise asbestos-containing materials, avoid disturbance, and follow the correct procedures in the event of accidental exposure.
Our course is officially accredited by UKATA (United Kingdom Asbestos Training Association) — the leading authority for asbestos training standards in the UK.

Who Needs This Training?

This course is essential for:

  • Builders and construction workers
  • Electricians and plumbers

Employers have a duty to ensure staff receive Asbestos Awareness training if there’s any risk of disturbing asbestos during their normal work duties.

Regulation 10 of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 requires that all workers who may come into contact with asbestos at work must receive Asbestos Awareness Training. This duty also extends to their supervisors and building professionals such as surveyors, engineers and architects. Asbestos Awareness is often referred to as Category A and this type of training has various accredited routes including UKATA, IATP or in-house.
