Course Aims
To provide thorough practical and theory training in operating a 360 degree Excavator, to enable the candidate to competently and safely carry out the role and pass the CPCS Theory and Practical Tests.

Course Content
– Operating the machinery to a minimum standard
– Fitting and operating ancillary equipment
– Siting the machine safely and efficiently
– Carrying out minor adjustments and routine servicing procedures
– Preparing the machine for travelling on the public highway
– The capabilities of each machine, its purpose and limitations
– All safety precautions necessary for the correct operation of the machine
– How diesel engines work and how various parts of the machine operate
– How to interpret the information provided by level pegs, profiles and so on
– What routine adjustments and servicing procedures are necessary, and how to carry them out

Duration of Training
Foundation training – 4 Days training + 1 day testing
Refresher (experienced) Training – 1 day training + 1 day testing

Test
To achieve the Red CPCS Trained Operator Card candidates must pass both the CPCS Theory Test and the Practical Test.

NVQ Plant Operations and CPCS Competence Card
Once you have achieved your Red CPCS Trained Operator Card it lasts for 2 years. During these 2 years you must work towards and achieve your NVQ in Plant Operations to upgrade to a Blue CPCS Competence Card.

Please note: Any candidate wishing to attend a CPCS course must have taken the CSCS Health, Safety and Environment test within the last two years.

Our Abrasive Wheel Train The Trainer course has been designed and structured to comply with the requirements of the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER 98) and the Health and Safety Executives publication ‘Safety in the Use of Abrasive Wheels’ (HSG17) and to safely and correctly train internal staff for a handheld angle grinder, with reference to power saws and other grinding machines.


WHO SHOULD ATTEND

Any person who wishes to train their internal employees in Abrasive Wheels.


WHAT WILL YOU LEARN

This course is split into 4 CORE MODULES over a two-day period:

Module 1: Candidates will receive the 4-hour course as it should be delivered at site level.

Module 2: Candidates will then receive further in-depth knowledge and understanding in Abrasive Wheel information.

Module 3: Candidates will be taught the basic principles of how to deliver and assess effective teaching sessions.

Module 4: Candidates will be required to deliver a 30-minute micro-teaching session on day 2 that meets the standard of quality, knowledge, and skill set required to deliver these courses in the future.

DURATION: 2 Days

Note: If you have attended one of PGL’s other Train The Trainer Courses, your course will be reduced to approximately 1 ½ Days due to already completing Module 3 (You will not need to resit this module but will need to complete Module 4 per course).

DELIVERY METHODS: Open Course.

NUMBER OF LEARNERS: 8 learners per day.

ASSESSMENT: Learners are assessed through a mix of theory and practical training.

CERTIFICATION: Upon successfully completing this course, you will receive a PGL Approved qualification.

RESOURCES: All candidates upon completion of the course will receive via SharePoint a course presentation, a lesson plan, assessments (theory and practical), and any handouts relevant to the topic.

ALLMI Lorry Loader – Operator Training

Our ALLMI accredited Lorry Loader training course has been designed for those who operate a lorry loader, also known as HIABs, lorry mounted cranes or lorry mounted loaders. This course ensures that operators are safely and completely trained to operate the machinery at all times

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

Anyone who is intended on Operating a Lorry Loader and requires competence.

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?

  • Pre-running checks of both the carrier vehicle and lifting appliance
  • Configuration for a range of tasks, including road and site travel
  • Loading vehicle safely, in accordance with industry practices
  • Removing and reattaching the bucket
  • In and out of service conditions, and how to set the machine to each
  • Loading and unloading procedures

ASSESSMENT

The ALLMI Operator Course consists of 15 modules and is either one or two days in duration (depending on whether the candidate is a novice or experienced operator). Both the one- and two-days courses culminate in a written and practical examination.
The assessment process is set by ALLMI Ltd and administered by the instructor. It consists of two theoretical assessment and one practical. The theoretical assessment consists of a set of core multiple choice and ‘open’ questions, as well as questions which relate specifically to the crane attachment being used. The practical assessment is designed to identify whether the candidate has the appropriate practical skills to operate a lorry loader safely and efficiently.

DURATION: 1 or 2 Days – depending on experience (Ask our team for advice)

DELIVERY METHODS: On Site, which must have a safe working area

CERTIFICATION: Identity card and certificate and will be registered on the ALLMI Operator database which are valid for five years, after which time refresher training and assessment will need to be undertaken. Both the identity card and certificate state the categories for which the operator is licensed. Candidates will receive the ALLMI Operator’s manual, which is used as a reference guide throughout their career

ALLMI Slinger Signaller
This great course can also count towards your CPC hours

Our ALLMI Slinger / Signaller course content is extremely comprehensive and so cardholders are able to use their skills when performing Slinger / Signaller duties with other types of lifting equipment, not just lorry loaders. The Slinger / Signaller course consists of 13 modules. The course duration is one day for experienced candidates and a minimum of two days for novice candidates.  A maximum of four candidates can attend a course.  Both courses culminate in a written and practical examination.


WHO SHOULD ATTEND

Anyone who is intended on Operating a Lorry Loader and requires competence.


WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?

The purpose of our asbestos awareness course is to help employers fulfil these legal requirements and enable employees to work safely.

Asbestos-related diseases currently accounts for some 5000 deaths in the UK each year. Construction personnel are now the group at highest risk when they work in existing buildings, which may still contain asbestos containing materials.

Regulation 10 of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 requires that all workers who may come into contact with asbestos at work must receive Asbestos Awareness Training. This duty also extends to their supervisors and building professionals such as surveyors, engineers and architects. Asbestos Awareness is often referred to as Category A and this type of training has various accredited routes including UKATA, IATP or in-house.


WHO SHOULD ATTEND

This course is ideal for those who may work on the fabric of any premises built / refurbished before the year 2000, and those who may work in trades where accidental exposure could be a real possibility and need to recognize the signs of disturbance.

This is an awareness course only and does not train delegates to work with any forms of asbestos. It informs the delegate how to reduce the associated risks from asbestos in order to work more safely on site.

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN

During this Asbestos Awareness Training Course staff will learn:

  • The properties of asbestos and its effects on health
  • The products and materials likely to contain asbestos (with images to aid detection)
  • A short video appropriate to the type of work undertaken by your employees
  • The potential operations that could result in asbestos exposure
  • The importance of and types of preventive controls that can be used to minimise exposure
  • Your managers responsibilities to protect your workforce and avoid a prosecution
  • A practical demonstration of Asbestos Surveys and information on what should be included
  • Information on safe work practices including control measures and protective equipment
  • The use and maintenance of respiratory protective equipment
  • Emergency procedures to deal correctly with an asbestos incident

CERTIFICATION: Delegates successfully completing the course will receive an accredited certificate of attendance valid for 1 year.
