A must for those locating utilities in roads and paths
Our Locating and Avoidance of Underground Apparatus course (NRSWA Unit LA) is designed to make candidates aware of the dangers involved in excavating on public highways and private land and train them to detect and avoid most buried apparatus.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
Any person working in or locating utilities within roads, streets and pathways or anyone who wishes to advance their working knowledge of street works.
WHAT WILL YOU LEARN
- Location and avoidance of underground apparatus
- Interpret and understand plans showing location of underground apparatus
- Identify and understand how to identify types of utilities apparatus and highways services encountered during excavation
- Identify and understand the risks and implications of damage to underground utilities apparatus and highway services
- Use pipe and cable location equipment
- Safe digging techniques (HSG47)
COURSE DETAILS
DURATION: 1 Day
DELIVERY METHODS: Open Public Course or On site
ASSESSMENT: Practical and Theoretical Assessment
CERTIFICATION: Certificate and Street Works Qualifications Register Card (SWQR) through CABWI – Awarding Body for the Water & Utilities Industries which is renewable every five years.
FUNDING SUPPORT
SHORT COURSE GRANT: This course is eligible for the following short course grant via CITB:
- Locating and Avoiding Underground Apparatus (Cat & Genny): £140 Per person
Note: You must be a CITB levy payer.
SKILLS & TRAINING FUND: Are you a CITB-Registered employer, up to date with your Levy return and employ between 1-250 direct staff or CIS (No PAYE). If you answered yes, this training may be offset with funding as part of an application for between £2,500 up to £25,000 for training your workforce.
